So… you keep hearing about pickleball.
Your friends are suddenly obsessed. Your aunt plays. Your coworker won’t shut up about it. And you’re like — isn't it just tennis’s fun, unserious cousin?
Time to find out! We’ve partnered with Volley & Vibe, created by Atibia and Jade, for a beginner-friendly, vibes-forward pickleball experience made just for The Lay Out community. Whether you’ve never picked up a paddle or you’ve played a little and want to get better, this is all about learning the game, moving your body, and having fun doing it.
Pickleball blends elements of tennis, ping pong, and badminton — but without the pressure, gatekeeping, or country-club energy. Expect light instruction, open play, laughs, and a welcoming environment where nobody takes themselves too seriously (except maybe when it’s time to win a point).
How long is class?
This is a 90-minute class, designed to give everyone plenty of time to learn, play, and enjoy the experience without rushing.
What’s the class format?
This is a small-group, open-play format, allowing space to learn the basics, get some reps in, and play at your own pace in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Do I need previous pickleball experience?
Nope. This class is designed for:
First-timers who’ve never played
Beginners who want to learn the basics
Casual players looking to sharpen their skills
Instruction will cover fundamentals, gameplay flow, and court movement in a relaxed, supportive way.
Is this good for beginners or people just here for fun?
Absolutely. Volley & Vibe is about movement, confidence, and community, not perfection. Whether you’re competitive, curious, or just outside for the vibes, this class meets you where you are.
Who’s leading the class?
Volley & Vibe was created by Atibia and Jade, who center fun first — making movement social, accessible, and genuinely enjoyable. Volley & Vibe is designed to build confidence on the court while keeping the energy light, inclusive, and welcoming.
